According to The American Diabetes Association, an individual with diabetes (and anyone else without diabetes) should consume approximately 50 percent of Calories from Carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are our primary source of fuel. When we do not consume enough carbo's, our body is not supplied with an important energy source, and our health, in the long run, can be compromised.
Carbohydrates are categorized as simple and complex… the simple come from candy, cake and sugars and enter the bloodstream quickly , causing a fast rise in blood sugar. Complex Carbohydrates (i.e. bread, pasta, rice, cereal, other grains, whole fruits and vegetables) digest slowly and thus enter the bloodstream gradually, allowing the body to receive a steady supply of energy. Both simple and complex carbohydrates, in moderation, can be incorporated into an eating plan without sacrificing blood sugar or good health. The Diet Gourmet program supplies an excellent balance of all nutrients, especially complex carbohydrates ,and complies with the recommendations of the most professional and reputable health organizations. It has been a great privilege to be associated with an organization that is so dedicated to their clients' good health.
Sincerely,
Anne Dubner, R.D., L.D.Nutrition Consultant | |
